PTFA Alumni – Past Pupils Event

Sacred Heart Girl’s College, New Plymouth

On Saturday 2 November, All Souls’ Day, Sacred Heart Girls’ College, New Plymouth hosted approximately 90 past students for an alumni event that we plan to make annual moving forward. It was wonderful to have five Sisters with us too.

Thank you to Sisters Mary, Colleen, Lidwina, Margaret Mullin and Merle for joining us.

We started the morning with a liturgy in our chapel, Mary’s Chapel and were amazed that we all managed to fit into the space. As soon as people started to arrive, there was a ripple of excitement and the joy of being re-united with others from the Sacred Heart community was palpable.

Following the liturgy twelve of our new Year 12 student leaders took the alumni on tours of our school and hostel. There was delight to see how beautiful our school is looking and how much new building and refurbishment there has been in recent years. The Year 12 students enjoyed hearing stories of times gone! Our morning finished with “High Tea” in the staffroom, kindly provided by our PTFA, and lots of excited conversations.

We hope the word will spread about this day and that our alumni – both past students and staff will feel welcome to come back to their school each year on the first Saturday of November. We value our close connection with our treasured Mission Sisters and all those who have gone before us and want to stay closely connected.
